Mary T. Roche, Council Member - Elected 2010, Current Term of Office 2014

Indian Wells Council Member Mary T. Roche was re-elected to Indian Wells City Council in 2010, after having served eight years – including two terms as mayor – on the City

As a committed public servant, Roche, along with her colleagues, has been instrumental in ensuring Indian Wells’ top quality of life and status as a premier residential resort destination. During her eight years on City Council, Roche served as a commissioner for the Riverside County Transportation Commission and Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy. She was on the Federal Advisory Committee for the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, and the Executive Committee of the Coachella Valley Association of Governments. Moreover, she served as president of the Riverside County League of Cities.

As a proven community leader, Roche serves as a board member for several Coachella Valley organizations including Shelter from the Storm, Tools for Tomorrow, Olive Crest, College of the Desert Foundation, University of California Riverside Desert Lyceum, and Women Leaders Forum of the Coachella Valley, which she founded in 2001.

In addition, Roche founded the Indian Wells Historic Preservation Foundation and the Homeowners/Residents Association of Indian Wells. She was founding president of Desert Horizon’s Women’s Club, as well as past president of Desert Horizons Homeowners Association.

An educator and businesswoman, Roche retired from Los Angeles Community College after 25 years as both an administrator and professor. She founded and served as CEO/presidents of Linens Unlimited II, a retail bed and bath chain in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.

Roche earned a Masters of Arts degree in educational administration from California State University, Long Beach and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Los Angeles. She also attended McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.
