The Finance Department oversees all of the Citys financial activities. The Finance Department develops and monitors the City’s annual budget and comprehensive long-range financial forecast through a collective effort. This is achieved through sound fiscal analysis of operating and capital revenues and expenditures, superior customer service, and adherence to the highest professional standards. The Finance Department monitors the Citys expenditures and revenue receipts, oversees budget transfers and adjustments, and reviews requests for appropriations for both the operating budget and the Capital Improvements Program. In addition, the department develops and updates the Citys Five Year Financial Outlook. The Finance Department is responsible to prepare the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, providing financial advice and information to the City Manager regarding the fiscal affairs of the City, monitoring expenditures for compliance, preparing financial reports on a timely basis, administering the payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable programs and purchasing. In addition to the daily management of the Citys resources, the department provides strategic financial planning for the administration of the Citys Redevelopment Agency and for the creation of the Citys Capital Improvement Program. This involves providing project analysis to various departments and structuring resources for financing the acquisition or development of capital projects.
Information Technology Department
The Information Technology (IT) Department establishes strategies, policies, and procedures for effective implementation of citywide information and communication technologies; provides electronic information and interactive services via the Internet; provides effective wireless communications to the City and other governmental agencies through high quality systems and services, ensuring the highest level of service to the public. The IT Department is responsible for providing strategic direction and IT operational policies and standards; and for coordinating major Citywide initiatives including IT project management, the Citys IT budget, Citywide technologies and applications, and the Citys website. The IT Department provides information and communications support to all City departments. The infrastructure provided is maintained to be robust, reliable, and secure. The department oversees all of the annual technical support and maintenance contracts for the Citys equipment. The equipment and services that are purchased under this department include: computers; printers; software; internet and web consulting; communications and messaging services; video and audio production and broadcasting equipment; network administration; computer maintenance and support. Staff development, training, and other such services are supported under this department as well.
