Patrick J. Mullany, Mayor Pro-Tem - Elected 2006, Current Term of Office 2010

Patrick J. Mullany was elected to Indian Wells City Council in 2006. Council Member Mullany served over twenty years with the Federal Bureau of council_mullanyInvestigation having been assigned in Jacksonville, Los Angeles, New York, the FBI Academy, FBIHQ and Baltimore as Assistant Special Agent in Charge prior to being assigned as Senior Administrative Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Division.

Upon his retirement in August 1986, he accepted the position as Director of Security, First Interstate Bank, Limited, where he established an international security program for First Interstate Bank of California.

Patrick served as Assistant Director of Security-Executive Protection for Occidental Petroleum Corporation in Los Angeles. In addition, he was the Western Regional Director of Operations for the London based Control Risks Group. He was Director of International Security for Kroll Associates. He is currently an international security consultant.

Council Member Mullany has extensive corporate security experience including, crisis management, emergency evacuation planning, and emergency preparedness planning. He is a recognized authority on international terrorism and hostage matters. He is a qualified expert witness in hostage matters and psychological profiling. While in the FBI, Mullany participated in numerous high profile hostage situations, to include the Iranian Crisis in 1979. He has lectured worldwide while assigned to the FBI Academy. He has also co-initiated such major police programs as Applied Criminology, Psychological Profiling, Hostage Negotiations, Threat Assessments and Stress Management. In recent years, he has applied his background to the new emerging areas of Violence in the Workplace and School Violence.

Mullany has a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Manhattan College, New York, NY. He has served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Virginia. He has been medically certified in the use of Hypnosis through the University of California at Los Angeles. He is also a distinguished graduate of the Senior Seminar, Foreign Service Institute, US Department of State. In addition, he is a Past President of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.

Mullany resides in Indian Wells, California with his wife Patricia. They are the proud parents of five children and grandparents of ten grandchildren.
