Planning Department

Planning Director Corrie Kates and crew review and critique proposed residential and commercial projects to ensure quality of life and high-quality building standards for the community. Corrie also supervises the Building Division which enforces the Uniform Building Codes and city ordinances that regulate residential and commercial construction.

Responsibilities of Corrie and his department include:

Planning Department

• Enforcing planning regulations and policies

• Performing inspections of residential and commercial buildings

• Establishing architectural and landscaping criteria for residential and commercial development

• Overseeing the City Planning Commission and the Architecture and Landscape Committee

Building Division:

• Issuing home and commercial building permits

• Reviewing and approving construction plans

• Conducting on-site inspections

• Investiging complaints of violations of city housing and construction codes
