Housing Stimulus Plan

The City of Indian Wells is set to launch an exciting new initiative that offers a money-saving incentive for you if you wish to remodel your home.

This past March, Indian Wells City Council approved a new Housing Stimulus Plan. The innovative plan will waive city building department plan check and permit issuance fees for one year for Indian Wells property owners who wish to renovate existing residences. The pilot program goes into effect on July 1, 2010 and lasts through June 30, 2011, and will also include foreclosed properties that had active or expired remodeling permits.

In a time where most municipal governments are increasing taxes and fees, the City of Indian Wells is again taking the lead by reinvesting in the community. What’s more, the surplus in the city’s General Fund will absorb the short term-loss in building permit revenue for the upcoming fiscal year.

The plan will help ease remodeling budgets, revitalize the city’s housing market and likely property values, and create jobs in the local construction industry.
